Personally, I'd say dub all the way, the voice acting is excellent and fits the characters really well - much better than the Japanese voices, and it also fits the setting better (it's in a pseudo-Anglogerman Empire, so the names of people like Edward/Ed, Roy, Alphonse/Al, Armstrong or Hughes sound much more fitting when spoken by the English-dub voice actors than the Japanized "Aru" and "Edu".Īs for the Brotherhood vs. Wait, so which one do most fans enjoy more? And are the first episodes of both identical to each other? The very first episode is different as Brotherhood had a special (and really REALLY awesome) introductory episode that wasn't taken from the manga or anything shown in the first anime. On the other hand, the first anime has the advantage of having a complete dubbed version, but Brotherhood does not, so once you're past a certain point you'll have to either swap over to subtitles anyways or else wait for each new dubbed episode to come out. Honestly, when I watch things like the Miyazaki films I tend to prefer subtitles, but when it comes to something the length of a TV show I'd much prefer to be listening in my native language. ![]() The English cast is excellent, and not having to pay attention to the subtitles also means you can watch the action more carefully, which is good because the artwork is amazing. Overall, I'd definitely say I enjoyed the dubbed episodes more, and considering how much I liked the story all the way through I think that has more to do with the voice-acting than anything else. I watched that series first, and since the dub isn't complete for it I had to switch over from dubbed episodes to subbed episodes about half-way through. I can't give a real opinion on the first anime, seeing as how I'm only half-way through it myself and have only watched the episodes dubbed (though I will say the dub cast is quite good), but I'd recommend watching Brotherhood dubbed. This anime is worth every second.a must see.I actually just started up FMA myself, off of the recommendation of my brother (neither of us are generally big anime fans, but I trust his advice on shows), so this is actually a question I had to ask myself recently.
